When we talk about retouching, we are talking about digital manipulation of an image. Retouching is an integral part of the photographic process—now that most photography is digital, retouching is, at its simplest, the part of the process that happens after the picture is taken in order to produce a suitable finished image; the ‘digital darkroom’ if you like.
Retouching is also a technique and an art form in it’s own right, which can include manipulating and combining pre-existing imagery to create new images. We are experienced in digital retouching, and regularly employ techniques to fix or enhance existing images to meet the client’s needs—this might include replacing products with updated ones, changing colours or backgrounds, or wrapping graphics around a shape.
Our in-house photographer is also a retoucher, and (with a history in both traditional and digital techniques) this means that the process of creating photos is undertaken with an experienced eye, and images are created with an ‘end-to-end’ vision.
All the Q+H team are experienced in retouching techniques, which come in handy for visualising our designs for the client to help them better understand the finished product, such as creating visuals of point-of-sale fixtures, packaging and the like. So let us know what it is you’d like to achieve visually—there’s not a lot we haven’t done!
