Reimagining the World Cup

  • As this year’s World Cup in Brazil grows increasingly closer – 7 days, 10 hours and 9 minutes to be precise…not that we’re counting or anything, it’s becoming clearer that football fever is well and truly underway!

In a bid to both remember and admire the past 84 years of World Cup magic, Manhattan-based graphic designer James Taylor devised a project in which he reimagines each tournaments official poster from 1930 to 2014.

The poster series uses era-specific design principles to embody the unique style of each World Cup. With their charming vintage aesthetic and distinct style, the striking posters really do illustrate the history of graphic design whilst paying homage to one of the world’s most celebrated sports.
